Your own personal wildlife guide for a day – or two!
From £160 (if booked online) for a group of up to seven people
In such a vast area, where the special wildlife is thinly spread and elusive, you’ll benefit from our unbeatable local knowledge to track down the species you most want to see. We’ll judge the weather, we know the terrain and most of all we make it fun for everyone. The itinerary can be tailored to find the birds and mammals on your wish list and you can choose a standard or extended day in one of four areas: the Caledonian Pine Forest, Highland Glen, Heather Moorland and Coast or Cairngorm Mountains. You can book online for any of these wonderful wildlife experiences!
Caledonian Pine Forest
Walk through the local pine forests for Capercaillie, Black Grouse, Crested Tit, Scottish Crossbill and other woodland birds, with the chance of Red Squirrel and Roe Deer. During the spring and summer, this works best as an extended day out, with an early morning start for the more elusive species. Walking boots and suitable outdoor clothing are essential: full details of what to bring will be sent to you when you book.
Our guide will take you deep into local glens for Golden Eagle, Red Deer, Red-throated Diver, Red Kite, Ring Ouzel and Peregrine. This day out involves more travelling and less walking, so can be suitable for those not used to walking far, although walking boots and suitable outdoor clothing are essential. Full details of what to bring will be sent to you when you book.
Heather Moorland and Coast
Offered during the summer months, this day starts by exploring the local moorland for Red Grouse, Black-throated Diver and Mountain Hare, before travelling to the coast for Osprey, seaduck and terns. There’s a good chance of Bottlenose Dolphin as well!
Walk into the foothills of the Cairngorms for Ptarmigan, Snow Bunting, a chance of Mountain Hare and, during the summer months, Dotterel. The ascent is not difficult, but you will walk up to four miles on a rough path and therefore walking boots and suitable outdoor clothing are essential. Full details of what to bring will be sent to you when you book.
If you’d like a longer trip we can organise a tailormade holiday designed just for you, be it a mini-break in the Cairngorms National Park for Capercaillie, Red or Black Grouse, Crossbills, Divers and more, or an all-inclusive holiday anywhere in Scotland, including the Islands. Tell us where you’d like to go and what you want to see and we will organise everything for you – travel, accommodation, meals and a guide. Our knowledgeable guides can also combine wildlife watching with exploring the local history and culture of the area you visit.
